So, I talked to my sister today who very obviously does NOT have children. She was complaining to me that I was 'almost a month behind on my blog'. WELL, then! I informed her that it's been just a TAD busy around here. Let me recap.
We left for Florida on January 15th and came home on the 22nd. Quinn got a lovely stomach bug the Wednesday/Thursday night we were in Florida. Vomit. Everywhere. We discovered this right around midnight. Happy Anniversary to Jason and I (our anniversary was the 21st)! :) I'm still blaming said stomach bug on all of the rude Brazilians who happened to be on vacation at the same time. Boy, were they annoying.
Fast forward to our plane ride home on Friday the 22nd. Quinn is still not himself. Because of this, and the fact that we left the house at 5am he wore his Baby Bjorn plastic bib with the 'trough' to catch any vomit that may have occured on the hour ride from the house to the airport. He continued to wear said bib throughout the flight. He looked a little interesting! Half of the time the bib ended up turned around and hanging behind his neck cape-style, making him look like some sort of sickly strange superhero. Luckily we arrived home without any further upchucking. I'd like to add that the morning we left I ate a donut and some milk (breakfast of champions, I know) and felt a little off...which leads me to the next part of the story.
So, we got back around 10:30, got settled and had some lunch. We all thought it'd be a good idea to lay down for a nap when the boys did since we were up so early for our flight. As I'm laying down I feel AWFUL. So, from about 2 in the afternoon until 8 I. Was. Miserable. I'm pretty sure whatever funk the Brazilians gave us morphed into full fledged Ebola Virus with a side of Swine Flu. I have never spent so much time with one end or the other over a toilet in my life. After multiple bouts of this I ask Jason at what point do I start worrying about dehydration. Not only am I sick, but I had barely anything to drink on the plane. I wouldn't have been as concerned had I not had the baby to worry about. Did I mention that my heartrate was 130-140 and that I was so thirsty that drinking from a toilet was sounding appealing?
So, after the boys went down for the night J and I headed off to OB triage so that I could get some IV fluids and IV Phenergan to help with the nausea. Oh, did I also mention that this was AFTER the on call doctor wanted me to try a Phenergan suppository first? Oh yes, it was. By the time we went into triage I wasn't as nauseated, but I didn't care. I knew from my c-section with the boys that Phenergan is a wonder drug. If the nausea was getting better it would at least help me sleep. 11:30 and 2 liters of fluids later we were on our way back home.
Does the story end there? Oh no, folks! I think I made it to bed around 12:30. At 2-2:30 guess who was throwing up? If you guessed Parker you're the lucky winner of a rejected bottle of Pedialyte. So, mom (who is the most patient person walking the earth today) and I get up with him. I failed to mention that mom spent the week with us in Florida, and was kind enough to stay overnight the night we got home since I was so sick the entire afternoon. Why she didn't run screaming from our house I'll never know! Would Parker throw up into a bowl? No. He thought the most effective means of being sick was to throw his head back. Nice. We ended up camped out in the family room. Mom on the couch and myself and Parker on the recliner with a towel over the both of us since the bowl continued to be rejected.
We spent the entire following week recovering. And preparing for the boys' 2nd birthday party. Luckily they were well by Saturday, but Parker still just was not himself. He spent the present opening walking around crying and screaming. Nice! Thanks so much for the presents everyone! Haha!
So, today is February 1st and we are FINALLY getting back to normal though now the boys and I all have colds. I'm telling you. Ebola. I curse you Brazilians!! :)
Did I mention Johna also wanted to know why I haven't called her lately? Again. Zero kids. Is it not obvious?!
Look for pictures from Florida and the big Wonder Pets birthday bash in a separate post.
