My little turkeys! Do you like how yellow their noses are from all the vegetables they eat?!
Don't know how I forgot to mention this in my last post...
A few weeks ago the South Bend Tribune had a feature asking for people to submit what they're thankful for. I thought it'd be great to recognize the boys' neonatologist, so I submitted a little letter to them. They ended up on the front page of the paper on Thanksgiving! They had told me they would use our story, but I figured it'd be in one of the other sections of the paper. We were completely surprised! Here is the link:
On the right hand side of the article you can click 'view more photos' and their picture pops up.
We're home this afternoon from Parker's therapy eval. He did great...completely showing off! I was worried that he was going to be tired and just lay there but he did a wonderful job. The therapist gave us some things to work on at home, but she felt that he's really right on target with where he should be for his adjusted age. She said that if I'd like we can come back in four weeks to monitor his progress, or just wait until we go back for our Newborn Follow-Up Clinic appointment in February. I told her I'd wait and see how things go over the next few weeks and go from there. Obviously if we need to bring him back we will, but it was a great reassurance to know that the therapist thought he was doing great. Sometimes I just have to be reminded that these kids were nine weeks early. Thankfully, they've been so healthy that I tend to have a hard time reminding myself of that little detail!
In other news... Parker is starting to cut one of his little bottom teeth. You can just feel the edge of it poking through his gums! Quinn and Parker are both starting to 'self-feed' a bit. We bought those little Gerber star-shaped things that dissolve really easily for them to work on. Today they both managed to get them into their mouths. It's so cute to watch how much they concentrate on it! You can just see the little wheels turning! :) They've also now tried yogurt for the first time within the past few days. They LOVE it. I bought them some of that Yobaby yogurt and they can't eat it fast enough. They're both turning into good little eaters. Today when we got home from Parker's eval they polished off a half cup of baby cereal, a jar of apples and apricots, and a container of yogurt. Then Daddy came home and they had some of their Gerber puffs and then Daddy let them try some Muenster cheese. That was a first!
Tonight I'm going out to meet Alison for a drink. (Thank you Jason!) Can't wait... Mojito here I come! Hacienda's are the BEST! I'm planning on running to Meijer/Wal-Mart while I'm out. The therapist recommended buying a full length mirror to prop up for the boys to admire themselves in while they're on the floor. :) Parker had a ball watching himself (and everyone else) in the mirror that was in the therapy room. Think I'll pick them up a couple more containers of those little finger foods too..
Saturday we have pictures again. Yeah, yeah, I know. It's probably overkill but these are the CHRISTMAS pictures. That's my excuse! It was actually Jason's idea. :) Heather and her husband are coming out to the house for them. Auntie Maria's going to come over and be in a few pictures with the boys, so that should be cute. She's also going to watch them for us so Jason and I can go out for dinner. We had planned to go out with Adam and Heather after the pictures but they had something that came up so we're going to reschedule. Speaking of Maria.. she's such a big helper! She came over yesterday too and we ran into town to Babies 'R Us and to Max and Erma's for lunch. (She thought she was going to pay for her own lunch. Yeah, right..the least I can do is buy her lunch!) Like I was telling her, it's not that the boys are so unmanageable..it's just nice to have an adult to talk to who also happens to be a huge help with the boys.
Ok, I've typed enough! Hope everyone's having a great week!
