March of Dimes 14th Annual Signature Chefs Event

Our good friends Jim and Tonya Rush. Tonya was on the committee for this event and did an AWESOME job. Everything was wonderful!

Tonya and I all decked out! In her words: 'stay at home moms by day, hot mamas by night!' I can always count on her for a laugh!!

Jason and I. I think we clean up pretty well! :)

Last night Jason and I had the privilege of attending the local March of Dimes Signature Chefs Event. We had a GREAT time! When I came downstairs from getting dressed, Parker looked at me like: 'What are you WEARING Mommy?!' The look on his face was pretty priceless!
The event featured offerings from several different chefs in the area. There were also both silent and live auctions, which were pretty neat to watch. We did bid on a couple of the silent auction items, but were outbid. My ebay skills failed me! In addition, they have a 'Fund the Mission' portion of the evening. This involves the auctioneer starting with the highest dollar amount (which was $5,000). Whoever can participate at that level raises their program. The dollar amounts then went to $2500, $1000, $500, $250, etc. Their were two doctors being honored at this event who are married to each other. One is a Neonatologist and the other is a pediatric intensivist. They pledged $5,000! It was amazing to watch how generous people were. From the Fund the Mission alone over $16,000 was raised. It was great to see all of this money going towards such an important cause. I found myself getting teary eyed a couple of times throughout the night! Jason and I did win Cubs tickets in the raffle-AND they are actually good seats! Jason has such good luck with raffles, it's uncanny.
As always, I would encourage you to support the March of Dimes. Prematurity affects us all.
