Last week Quinn's dietitian came out to reevaluate Quinn's weight, and to see how we were doing with the recommendations she gave us the first time she was out.
I wasn't expecting much, because for the first four days we were in Boston I really don't know what Quinn lived on besides Golfish crackers, cereal and milk. Well, we ended up getting a GREAT report.
In 32 days Quinn gained 15 ounces, which is HUGE. This means he gained 14.5 grams per day. In order for him to have had 'catch up growth' he would have needed to gain 11 grams per day. So, he was WAY above and beyond what was necessary. Needless to say I was ecstatic! According to Vicki's chart, for kiddos Quinn's age his rate of gain put him in the 95th percentile for catch up growth. Ok, these kids have never been on the 95th percentile for ANYthing where growth is concerned!
She will continue to check back with us monthly for the next couple of months, just to ensure that we aren't running into any problems. Our biggest issue now is the (drumroll please) poop issue. Yes, we are having issues with that as well! Quinn has been dubbed the constipation king! We've done everything up to and including giving him prune juice at breakfast time, all to no avail. So, we've started mixing a teaspoon of Miralax into his milk daily, and it's made a huge difference. Only once you become a parent do you have such discussions about poop of all things!
