I'm typing this as I try to 'Ferberize' Parker. I realized ever since we've been back from Chicago the nap schedule has been an absolute mess. Down with trips to Chicago! And to think we're going to my grandparents for two nights next weekend. Makes me want to cancel the whole trip.
Parker and Quinn had their follow-up appointment at the Newborn Follow-Up Clinic yesterday. Basically they go there to be measured, weighed, and observed by a Physical Therapist and Speech Therapist. After all of that one of the doctors from the NICU talks to us about their progress, etc.
Parker was 12lbs 4ozs and Quinn was 12lbs 14ozs! The last time they were weighed was for their shots on September 18th and at that point they were 10lbs 14ozs and 12lbs 4ozs! Parker especially has gained a ton over the past three weeks!
We were told we need to continue to work more on tummy time. The doctor also had some concerns over their rate of growth weight-wise. That got me a bit riled up. I've been SO focused on trying to do the right thing regarding their eating/weight gain. The doctor did say that she only had two weights to go by as the boys have only been there twice for follow-up. I made sure to tell her how much they've gained the past three weeks and she seemed satisfied with that.
We have changed meal times a bit in light of our discussion with her. I've increased the amount of solids I'm offering. Before it seemed like Parker would've eaten more given the chance. So now we're feeding him until he stops instead of just giving him some pre-determined amount of food.
In other news... I was so excited! I checked our voicemail last night and we had a message from the boys' Neonatologist saying he was sorry he missed us at the NICU reunion, but wanted to check in on the boys. How sweet is that? I called him back today to give him an update on the boys. I told him we'd try to bring the boys up sometime next week so that he can see them.
Think that's all for now. Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. Speaking of which..is anyone else excited about the premiere of 'Kath and Kim' tonight? I think it looks hilarious!
Oh, one last thing... there's a picture of Jason and I with the boys at the NICU reunion on Heather's website:
