Feel like I haven't had much to blog about lately, but I thought I'd better post SOMETHING! Last weekend we had planned to take the boys out to visit their Great-Grandma Ransom and to the apple orchard. Unfortunately, the weather was less than specatcular for the orchard so we scrapped that plan. We also had to change visiting with Grandma for another weekend. Turns out both she and Jason's dad have colds so we didn't go to either place! I'm trying to be less cautious than I was when the boys were tiny last winter regarding 'bugs', but still. I figure if I know someone's sick and I can avoid having them around it why not? It's one thing when Jason and I get sick....not much you can do about that. If I can delay having two kids in the house sick at once I'm all for it! I figure anyone that has an issue with it can be the one to come over and take care of them when they've both got snotty noses and are completely irritable. :)
Anyway, we ended up taking the boys to Hobby Lobby. That place is great. If you buy anything there full price you're nuts. Just wait a week and it'll be half off. I need to go back this week because now they have collage frames half off. I need another one for our fall pictures. We got a mirror for the dining room for $45 (usually $90), and some fall/Thanksgiving decorations since the festivities are at our house this year. It should be interesting. It does make it much easier for us where the boys are concerned. This way we can just put them down for their naps in their own cribs, etc. Everyone who knows our kids knows that they don't nap well if they're not at home and sometimes not even then.
Jason's taking my car in tomorrow. The check engine light is on which probably (hopefully) just has something to do with the fuel cap. The other day it was saying to check the cap, which we did, but maybe that was enough to trigger the check engine light. We shall see! Glad my car has less than 5,000 miles and the light is already on. Pffft.
Thursday we have an appointment with the boys pediatrician for their nine month check up and also for their second flu shot. I'm curious to know what they weigh according to their scale. We checked them at Jason's office on the way home Saturday and they were both about 14lbs. If that's right it means that Parker gained almost 2lbs and Quinn 1lb since Oct. 7th. Not bad!
Oh, I forgot the most exciting thing of all! (Yes, I am easily amused.) My vacuum that we've had for just about two years has died. What a piece! Stupid Consumer Reports rated in #1...not so much. Do not buy the Hoover self propelled. First the on/off switch quit working, so I'd have to plug/unplug it to turn it on or off. I figured I could live with that, electrocution be damned! Well, that was all fine and dandy until the lever to change from carpet to hard floors became stuck. Then the brush quit spinning unless you were pushing the vacuum. Forget it. I have no patience for taking the thing to a vacuum shop with all of my spare time. Imagine me trying to haul the vacuum plus two kids in car seats into the place. I'd read reviews where other people had the same problem and shelled out all kinds of money for repairs only to have it break down again. I will miss the nifty 'dirt finder' light. The thing had a red light/green light to tell you if the area you were cleaning was still dirty. Satisfied my slight OCD/anal retentive tendencies! To get to the point, I broke down and ordered a Dyson off of Ebay which came in Friday night...so I was vacuuming at 8:30. I'd heard amazing stories of all of the gunk and dirt the thing picks up after cleaning with an old vac so I had to test it out! :)
Think that's all for now. I need to get some things accomplished while the boys are down for a nap.
