Updates

Thought I should update a few things I posted about last time.

First of all, the family truckster's check engine light has been remedied. Apparently in my rush to get to mom and dad's a few weekends ago with the boys I caught the tether that's on the gas cap between the cap and the car causing the light to come on. Whoops. Luckily the guy said he wouldn't charge us for the diagnostic check (out of the kindness of his heart right?) but next time it would cost $100.

The boys had their check up last Thursday with Dr. Hudson. I'm just not sure what I think about our pediatrician sometimes. Super nice guy, but it seems like unless I ask him a point-blank question he doesn't volunteer much. The boys are going to start three solid food feedings per day. Right now I feed them cereal with a fruit/vegetable in the morning and evening. Now we will never leave the house! ;) Case in point about the pediatrician. I feel like I never get a straight answer. I don't know if now that they'll be starting more solids if I stop nursing them so much during the day? We'll see how it goes I guess. It seems that no matter what I do someone or other isn't happy with the way they're gaining weight. Guess what people? Jason and I are not exactly big..our kids likely aren't going to be either. For cripe's sake..my husband wears a 31 inch pant. What do you want from us? Linebackers?

In other news, First Steps came out today for the boys' evaluation. Long story short, they basically told me that they feel Parker would benefit from some Physical Therapy but that according to their assessment tool he doesn't qualify even though they tell me he has a 20% motor delay. Great, that is so helpful. We need to work with him more on sitting up with help and with some flexion issues he seems to have. Furthermore, I love how they flat out told me that the tool they use to assess development isn't the greatest for kids 3 and under. Hmm...last time I checked First Steps was, by definition, a early intervention program for kids 3 and under. Makes a lot of sense right? Sorry if I'm seeming a bit cynical but I'm completely frustrated by this process. I plan to call where they go for their follow-up clinic and get Parker started on therapy there if possible. I just hate that I feel like he needs help of some kind and it's been delayed because of the process that you have to go through to have First Steps come out for the evaluation, etc. The lady today gave us some tips to help work with him at home, but I want what's best for him and I am not a Physical Therapist.
On a lighter note...here are some pictures of the boys. We will get this therapy thing remedied. In the overall scheme of things we are so lucky and blessed with how healthy they are and how well they have done!

So studious!

Parker is entranced.

Doesn't Quinn just look so pleased with himself?
