Yours truly is the lucky recipient of a lovely case of mastitis. There is a reason most cases happen within the first six weeks of nursing. At that age your child (Parker) does not have the muscle control to elbow you in the affected boob as they squirm all over the place. At that age all they do is eat, sleep and poop so said mother isn't exhausted trying to keep up with two twelve month olds.
Jason had to round on two patients last night after office hours. I literally thought I was going to fall over I was so exhausted. Then I got the chills (the teeth-chattering variety). All while trying to get the boys their dinner. Suffice it to say they had chicken salad sandwiches, peas and fruit for dinner last night. Oh well. They'll live. Most food groups were represented. Good enough! I called Jason (Mr. Anti-antibiotic-unless-you-have-a-test-to-back-it-up) and informed him he just HAD to call me in something. Now I'm taking Keflex four times a day. He must know not to mess with the woman with a rock for a boob. I did have to laugh- he was looking up the drug/dose on Epocrates and told me that they had mastitis misspelled as mastits. Hmm...wonder if that was really an oversight or some geeky IT guy with a plaid shirt and pocket protector getting a good laugh when they made the program. I'm guessing the latter.
Must run. We have a birthday party this afternoon and it might be nice if I showed up looking like a halfway presentable human being. The other shoppers at Meijer were already treated to my disheveled appearance.
