A Fun Fourth

I started this days ago...hopfully I can finish it up now! I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July weekend! Jason was off the ENTIRE weekend, plus his usual Thursday afternoon. The boys and I did not know how to act! :)

We went to my parents house on Friday. My mom was supposed to work that afternoon/evening but took the day off because my dad was still needing too much help with his arm. The newest update is that they took the cast off and now they have his arm in some sort of makeshift sling. I've never seen anything so cheap looking in my life. So, Dr. Hix if you're reading this... really? (Ha Ha). The thing basically looks like a bunch of rags tied together. How it's supposed to heal in a contraption like that I don't know. This is why I'm not an orthopedist I suppose.
Anyway, we had a fun time cooking out and just hanging out around the house and in the yard. Jason made burgers on the grill for lunch (they were SO good) which apparently dad tried to re-create a few days later and didn't do so well. He also mowed the lawn for my dad. I think he really just wanted an excuse to ride on the John Deere mower! We had planned to see fireworks that evening but ended up not going..the boys were about done by that point.

Saturday we just stuck around the house. Jason wanted to get the deck sanded and re-stained, so that was his big project for the day. I went out with Alison to the outlet Saturday afternoon which was a nice break. We took the convertible which was fun until I somehow stalled it three times trying to cross the road by Lighthouse Place. It was a disaster! I don't know if I had it in third gear or what..but I haven't had such problems since I first started driving it last summer. The first time was funny..the second and third were just aggravating! Alison thought we were going to be killed by oncoming traffic.

The staining of the deck!

Sunday we went to North Judson to Uncle Steve and Aunt Shelly's for the (usually) monthly family breakfast. This time it was more of a cookout which was fun. Can I just tell you it was like a feeding frenzy! :) I think only one of the great aunts had seen the boys..so they were all lining up to get their paws on them! They have an above ground pool at their house and it was HOT so we thought it'd be fun to put the boys' feet in the water and see what they thought of it. Parker was fine with it..Quinn was NOT impressed. He yanked his little feet right out of there.

Enjoying the nice weather
