Vicarious Birthday Planning

I thought I had more pictures to post of the boys that I had taken recently..but I can't seem to find them on my camera. I guess they are in camera card limbo.

I decided I would post some pictures of things we're getting for the boys' big 1st birthday party for those of you who are too far away to be here for it. That way you can live vicariously through us!

I found a shop on Etsy.com that makes these adorable push toys. Parker will get a blue elephant and Quinn a green one. Thought these would be a cute first birthday gift..it's something they can have forever! We're not getting them much for their birthday..we still have Christmas gifts that haven't been opened and can double as birthday gifts!

If you haven't figured it out- their party is going to be an elephant theme. Had these onesies made for them. $7! How can you beat that?!

And I told myself I wasn't going to go overboard. But seriously, how cute are these hats? Hey, they only turn one once!

We decided to do cupcakes instead of a big cake for the birthday party. Replace the giraffe with an elephant and these will be on top of the cupcakes. I'm telling you...if you haven't been to Etsy.com...check it out. The CUTEST stuff and much of it is very reasonable.

Daddy and Quinn checking out the Parents magazine. :)
I feel bad that I don't have a new picture of Parker to put on here. I swear I took pictures of both of them the other day feeding themselves. It was so cute...Quinn had food ALL over the place. I don't know how I 'lost' pictures from the camera card.
Anyway, both of the boys have their first cold, although Parker is getting over his. Just call us the recyclers of colds. I had a cold the first part of the month, then Jason had it, Parker was next, Quinn followed right behind and now I have a cold AGAIN. Wish it was Spring so that we could open the windows and air the place out. We all MUST be well by the boys' party! :)
Yesterday we got out of the house to meet up with a friend of mine from high school and her little boy at the mall. The boys both napped on the way home (a whopping 30 minutes) and then decided they didn't need to nap once they got home despite my best efforts. That was all fine and dandy until 5:15-5:30 rolled around and they were both beside themselves they were so tired. Long story short... I put Quinn back in bed at 5:30, he slept until 8:30 when I fed him, slept until 11:30 when I fed him again, and then slept until 8 this morning. Parker slept from 6:30-ish last night until 11:30 and then until 8! What the heck?! I figure they are both needing the sleep to fight off colds, they are growing, or a combination of both. Our usual routine is after they eat first thing in the morning they go back to bed for a bit. I figured SURELY they wouldn't want to go back down today since last night they were in bed so early. Wrong. They are both sleeping as I type this. Unbelievable!
Earlier I was thinking how 'you know you're a mom when.....'
-You eat the leftover Cheerios/Gerber Puffs out of your kiddos bib pocket/high chair seat and consider it a snack.
-Getting poop on your hand when changing a diaper is still gross but not as disgusting as you would have thought pre-kids.
-You don't take the time to use the bathroom because it means getting just one more thing done.
-You take the time to use the bathroom even if you're just hiding in there reading a magazine because it means you can close the door and be by yourself for five minutes. (I've heard this stops working once they start walking and barging in everywhere.)
-The realization that the crib bumper is really made for moms. This way you can sneak back into the room for something and (hopefully) back out during naptime without the baby seeing you.
Today is Jason's half day (Yea!) and yesterday was our 3rd anniversary!! We ended up staying home, getting pizza and watching a movie! We did go out the night before for dinner (with the boys in tow) after running to Babies 'R Us. Which reminds me...Parker and Quinn both tried tilapia while we were out to eat. Quinn didn't much care for it (he's like mommy and could just live on bread) but Parker was a big fan (that kiddo will try anything..thank goodness!) It was so funny to pick Parker up and give him a kiss...you're so used to that 'baby' smell...instead I got fish breath! :)
Will try and post more pictures soon!
